Dear all,

Chess Association of Selangor (CAS) is please to announce that the annual event for juniors will be held on 1st July (1st leg), 8th July (2nd leg) and 14 & 15th July (Grand Finale).

CAS has made several changes to this year format which may seen as good news to many chess players out here.

Firstly, the secondary section event will has the age limit changed from 15 y.o. to 16 y.o. (Good News #1)

Secondly, the event will be reduced from 3 preliminaries legs to 2 preliminaries legs ==> Not too taxing to the parents who fetching their kids to the event. (Good News #2)

Thirdly, the entrance to the Grand Finale is no longer restricted to quota system imposed in the past few editions. However, player must join at least 1 preliminaries before joining the Grand Finale. (Good News #3)

Next, each preliminaries leg offers 10 prizes to U-12 category and U-16 category respectively. (Good News #4)

Next, the pre-seeding for Grand Finale will be based on GP points accumulated in preliminaries. This will add more spice to the Grand Finale. (Good News #5)

Next, the time control for the Grand Finale shall be maintain as 60 minutes per player for more quality play. (Good News #6)

Next, there are more prizes added to the Grand Finale. 18 Individual prizes excluding school team prizes. (Good News #7)

Next, there will be prizes for best Secondary and Primary School respectively. Eligibility: At least 4 players from the same school take part in this event. (Good News #8)

Next, the total prize fund for this event is RM 8,000 [Which comprises of RM 3,200 worth of pewter trophy, RM 450 in cash, RM 850 worth of chess books and sets, and RM 3,500 in chess scholarship) ==>
Highest prize fund event for juniors. (Good News #9)

Next, 20% DISCOUNT GIVEN TO FAMILY OF 3 AND ABOVE (VALID FOR SUBCRIPTION TO ALL EVENT PACKAGE TYPE ONLY). More family entries, the cheaper is the entry fees. (Good News #10)
