  1. To all Malaysian players participating in the coming Malaysian Chess Festival,

Hope the top players in the country will take the challenge and play in the Open Section. It is not always that you get to play with world class players, so stop all your nonsense like yesteryears (playing in the other less competitive tournament which runs concurrently as the Open section, you can always another time)

Please don’t waste Datuk Tan’s and MCF’s effort in bringing the players to Malaysia

  6. To John and James, hope MCF and Dato TCN can revise downwards the entry fee for Malaysians. Last year the best Malaysian was at 35th. place. Few in his right mind will sacrifice a good part of a thousand RM and much time to test his chess skills given the chances of recovering even the entry fee is extremely doubtful.

Said this many times before, but no one cares.

  9. Dear Malaysian,

You are right. It’s crazy requiring non-rated players to pay USD200 for the open section. It’s even more crazy to have a sub-tournament at the side with RM2000 as the first prize! Which strong Malaysian in the right mind is going to play in the open section to pit their skills against the GMs and the IMs?

MCF should scrap the other tournament to encourage more locals to play in the Open tournament. It really makes no sense bringing the GMs in but to only play amongst themselves.

And yes MCF should reduce the entry fees to the open tournament and instead increase the prize fund for the best Malaysians.

    To Malaysian,

But I suspect the high entry fee is also to let everyone know that only serious players should consider taking part.

Dato Tan, can you hear us?
