17TH JOHOR BAHRU MERDEKA CHESS TOURNAMENT
1. Organiser : The Tournament is organised by the Johor Chess Academy,
SouthernCity Johor Bahru and JB Chess Association
2. Venue : Giant SouthernCity, Taman Suria, JB
3. Date & Time : Sunday - 12th August 2007 from 9.00 am to 6.00pm. Participants
are to report by 8.30 am
4. Time Control : Swiss system of 7 rounds with 25 minutes per player to complete the
game.
5. Entry Fee : Open : RM30.00, Under 16 : RM10.00 & Under 12 : RM8.00
6 Prizes : Open : RM400, RM200, RM100, RM80, RM60, RM50 till 10th placing
Under 16: RM150, RM100,RM70,RM50, RM40,RM30, RM30, RM20,
Under 12: RM100,RM70,RM50, RM30,RM30, RM20 till 10th placing
7. Closing Date : shall not be later than 10th August 2007. Late entries and entries
without payment will not be accepted. Entry fees are not refundable

hi Mike, yes you may join our Open Tournaments in Malaysia. Today roughly 200 players taking part in the Johor Chess Open 2007 tournament. The highest seed is also an Philipine IM who is a chess trainer in Singapore. In last year events in Johor, we even had GM Bong Villamayor participating…
Besides the detailed 17th JB Merdeka Chess tourney on 12/08/2007; there will be also a tournament on September 9th at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) & a Johor Rapid 1 Chess Tournament on one Sunday in September month, details of which will be informed later.

hi …my name rosman. I one of chess player in muar johor. But in here i’m not see at all any chess tournament or any chess player active in this area. Can u help me to get any contact or any chess player at melaka or muar area. Maybe after that we can get involve in many chess tournament around in this area. Right now it’s hard to see around here…. tq if u can help me…
