Filipino chess player’s dedication to game rewarded
JOHOR BARU: He travelled over 2,500km just to take part in a chess contest but it was certainly worth the effort when Filipino Julio Sadorra was crowned the Bandaraya Chess Master here.
Sadorra defeated 49 people in the Men’s Open category of the Johor Baru City Chessmaster Championship held at the Johor Baru City Council Stadium here recently.
He received RM800 and a trophy from mayor Datuk Mohd Naim Nasir.
The second prize was won by Anas Nazreen Bakri while the third went to Michael Siong of Singapore.
