I must congratulate Candidate Master (what’s that really?) Colin Madhaven on this brilliant self promotion gimmick as it is clearly not for the love of or promotion of chess.

C’mon FM Peter (ELO 2350), why not break Collin’s simul record??

It is not about records but what we should be trying to achieve.
When I was active some 15-20 years ago and a top player and personality I gave 100s of simultaneous exhibitions and often convinced other top players to join in. Mainly to give others who normally would have have the chance to play against us as.
At UKM during the university games every year it was 100+ board simuls.
What does my giving a simul achieve today? - I have had my time and done my bit so I think that the new generation of players today should be engaged to promote the game.
For example, everyone talks about Mas trying to become a GM and notwithstanding his challenges, MCF needs to use this bid opportunity to promote the game as it is newsworthy.
If Mas went all over the country giving simuls and combind it with fund raiser for charity then it would make sense.

Very interesting that one person can be that good. I have long been fascinated with chess and I am probably an average player, but I just don’t know how to improve my game. Any suggestions?
