FM Mok Tze Meng became champion of the 1st Penang Heritage City International Open with his win over Tan Eu Hong in tinal round. As early as round 3, Mok was leading the tournament with IM Mas Hafizulhelmi. Mas beat top seed GM  Schebler in the fifth round but his chances to win the championship was dashed by a loss to NM Ronnie  Lim  in Round 7. That left Mok as the sole leader going into the final 2 rounds.
